Requisition to Mr Locke.
DBsrrta Mr Locke's published intention of not standing, a number of his old supporters are mooving in the matter, and the following requisition is being numerously signed :—
Sir,—We, the undersigned electors in the East Coast district, believing that in the present crisis which has arisen it is of the utmost importance to this constituency and the Colony as a whole that men of tried experience should be returned at the forthcoming election, and that, from your general experience and special knowledge of the Native Question, which is of such vital interest to the District of the East Coast, no candidate whom we could bring forward could so well represent this district as yourself, we would respectfully solicit you to re-oonsider your determination not to contest the seat, a'nd to allow yourself to be again nominated. Should you agree to do so we pledge ourselves to use our best endeavors to secure your return, and as far as possible save you the trouble of a personal canvass in the numerous small outlying settle—ents of this large Electorate, e -ould your health not permit of your being able to visit these in person.
