Political Points.
[Special to Standard.] Wellington, Last Night. Stout leaves for Dunedin in a few days for an electioneering tour. Grey is almost certain to follow him and work against him. Grey will probably be unopposed tor his own seat, and so will have time to fulfill his labour of love in slating Stout. It ’-is stated upon good authority that Vogel has declared that if he is beaten in his election he will at once quit this ungrateful country and return to England. This is a thoroughly Vogelian threat, and the only fear is that he will not act up to it. Powerful political associations are being formed in Auckland and Canterbury. The former has promulgated a very drastic and thorough programme of reductions and retrenchments. Geo. Stockman is a candidate for the Western Maori seat.
A large meeting of natives was held to-day at Parihaka, at which Te Whiti spoke.
