61 CANADIANS TO COMPETE AT THE AUCKLAND GAMES
(Rec. 9.20). OTTAWA. Nov. 8. The organising committee of the Canadian British Empire Games Association, have decided to send sixtyone athletes to the Empire Games in Auckland next February. The Association originally hoped to send sixtytwo to the Games, but several weeks ago it announced that it would send only fifty, because of its scarcity of funds. The committee to-day decided that the Association could raise enough money to send sixty-one. Forty -seven will be men and fourteen women. Ceylon Increases Her Entries P.A. AUCKLAND, Nov 9. Ceylon, which has nominated 12 athletes for the Empire Games at Auckland next February, now wishes to send more than this number, The organising secretary for the Games, Mr C. L. Cleal, received a cablegram to this effect from the Ceylon Empire Games Association to-day. Mr Cleal cabled, in reply, that further nominations will be received until December 7. Ceylon originally indicated that it would send tour track and field, athletes; four swimmers; three boxers and weight-lifters. .
