Auckland Seamen’s Extra Pay For Unloading Wheat

P.A. AUCKLAND, October 12. Auckland waterside workers who discharged bulk wheat from eight ships betwen February, 1947, and last June, will each receive a retrospective payment of 9d an hour as an extra rate. This was contained in a decision given in Wellington by the Waterfront Industry Commission. The Commission emphasised that the decision was given without prejudice to the claim for 2s an hour, awaiting the attention of the suspended Waterfront Industry Authority. The actual amount involved in the Auckland retrospective payment Has not yet been determined by the Commission’s branch office.
