INQUIRY INTO U.S. NAVY MORALE

(Rec. 11.5). WASHINGTON, Oct. 4. The U.S. House Armed Services Committee will open a full-scale investigation next week into the charges that unification is destroying the Navy’s morale and combat efficiency. The witnesses will include th 0 three Admirals who have backed Captain John Crommelin in challenging the unification policies. They are Admiral Louis Denfield (Chief of Naval Operations), Admiral A. W. Radford (Commander-in-Chief, Pacific Fleet), and Vice-Admiral Gerald Bogan (Commander of the First Task Fleet in th e Pacific). Captain Crommelin has risked his naval career by charging publicly that the Air Force and Army leaders were destroying naval aviation at the expense of national security.
