WESTLAND CARPENTERS’ UNION MEETING

The following officers were elected at the annual meeting of the Westland branch of the New Zealand Carpenters' and Joiners’ Union. —President. Mr 3. R. Mills; vice-president, Mr E. E. Jones; secretary-treasurer Mr J. E. Laing (all re-elected); executive, Messrs J. Coakley, A. P Hansen, G. Hansen, J. Skeats, G Errikson, T. Neame; delegate to the Trades Council, Mr A. P. Hansen; delegates to the Labour Representation Committee, Messrs H. P. Hansen and R. McQuinn; delegates to Apprenticeship Committee, Messrs S. R 1 Mills, A. E. Jones, J. E. Laing. The annual report and balance sheet was adopted. The report disclosed that a large number of trainees had completed their courses with the Rehabilitation Department, and also that a number of apprentices had become journeymen and had left the district to widen their experience in other spheres of building activity. Work for the eyar had been steady, and no unemployment had been reported.
