U.S.A. READY FOR INCREASED EXPORTS?

(Rec. 5.20). WASHINGTON, Sept. 27. Mr Dean Acheson (Secretary of State) said to-day that the United States should increase its purchases of foreign goods to aid in putting world trade on a sound competitive basis. He also expressed the hope that the United States would join the international trade organisation created by the United Nations to regulate international trade cartels that might restrict world trade.

Mr Acheson described the extension of the United States Reciprocal Trade A.ct as a move of the greatest importance in expanding world trade. He said that the United States could now conclude the trade agreements that were negotiated this summer at Annecy in France.
