Auckland Owner Has Win in Fillies’ Parade
The Auckland owner, Mr M. J. Moodabe, has two smart 2-year-olds in the Riccarton stable of J. S. Shaw. Copperplate won his division of the parade for colts and geldings last Saturday week, and on Saturday when the fillies were given a run Mr Moodabe’s grey, Pastel, by Pherozshah—Neutrality, showed to. advantage in the first division by finishing solidly to beat Mr S. C. Sutherland’s Te Reo Maori, a chestnut by Pictavia ■ —Linguist, trained bv R. Wilson. The Wilson stable provided the third placing, which went to Fiddlesticks, a brown filly by Lord Bobs —La Bru, owned by Mrs W. Toomey. Mr R. L. McCormack’s Sharessa, a grey, by Pherozshah —Sports Flash, and trained by W. Barr, shaded three others in a close finish for the second division. Penchant, a brown by Beaulivre —J.ady Desirable trained by V. A. Lee for Mr D. F. Dailey, and Strict, a brown by Sir Beau—Severity raced by Mr and Mrs I. Menzies, also in the Lee stable, were- right up in line with Sharessa, and Betula, Mr D. McFarlane’s black by Foxbridge— Pedile, trained bv F. D. Jones. IL-CORONA DESTROYED The 8-year-old Coronach gelding 11-Corona broke a fetlock during the ?-unning of the Styx Hurdles at Riccarton to-day and was destroyed. He was owned by Mr E. N. Cunningham and trained by C. W Enoka at Otaki. HEATHER FLIGHT SOLD TO MR H. GLAZEBROOK Heather Flight, which was bought in by Mr E. E. McCullough, one of his part-owners at the recent Grand National bloodstock sale, has been through Mr D. B. Clarkson to Mr H. M. Glazebrook, of Hawkes Bay. STARTER APOLOGISES After the running of the Heathcote Handicap at Riccarton today, the starter (Mr P. D. McNab) exnressed regret that he had not noticed Eulogise, which was not m line at the start.
