ATHLETICS N.Z. CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS ARE DECIDED

Hastings, Aug. 21. Wellington retained both individual and teams New Zealand cross country championships at Havelock 1-O1 tn on Saturday. In the senior event the leading competitors continually changed places until half way through the second lap, when the title holder, N. Taylor (Wellington) took the lead, and won by almost two hundred yards. Wellington again won the teams event with a point to spare from West Coast, North Island. The junior event was won narrowly by k Derwin (Hawkes Bay-Pov-erty Bay) from W. Hollis (Hawkes Bay-Poverty Bay), after they had run together most of the distance. For the senior race there were two laps over a course of three and one eighth miles, and for the junior one lap of the same course. Details are:— Senior: N.
