TURKISH QUAKE KILLS 20 AND MAKES 1200 HOMELESS

ANKARA, August 18. The official Turkish News Agency reports that at least 20 peoole were killed and 52 injured in an earthquake which rocked a wide area in Eastern Turkey, today. Semi-official sources said that 1200 people are homeless. Panic-stricken people were camping in the fields outside the town of Ezerum. A village near Erzerum, which was the epicentre of the earthquake, was completely destroyed. (Rec. 10.25). LONDON, August 19. Reuter’s Istanbul correspondent reports: The death roll in the earthquake in the Erzerum region, in north-eastern Anatolia, on Thursday, has risen to 65, and the injured to 120.
