Afghan’s Coup Fizzles Out

KARACHI, June 15

Amin Jan, brother of the former ex-King Amanullah, of Afghanistan, attempted to march an army of Mahsud tribesmen from the Pakistan North-west Frontier to take over his brother’s old throne, but, by the time that he had reached the border, he had only thirty men left, and he gave up the attempt. This is reported by authoritative sources at Karachi, who said that the attempt fell through chiefly because of pressure brought to bear by Pakistan political agents on the marching Mahsud tribesmen.
