Hokitika and Cobden to Represent West Coast at N.Z. Championships
As a result of the marching competition held at Rugby Park on Saturday, the Hokitika and Cobden teams will represent the West Coast in the New Zealand championships to be held at Wellington on March 19. The Greymouth Association Cup was won by Hokitika, and the Truman Shield by Cobden. The following teams took part in the competition:— Waiora, Mawhera Midgies, Greymouth Grenadiers, Owen’s, Reefton, Combined Business Girls, Blaketown, Cobden, and Hokitika.
The points awarded for the successful teams were:—Hokitika 2915; Cobden 2905; Blaketown and Combined Business Girls, equal, 282, 3. The prize for the best leader was won by Miss H. Ross, of Hokitika, and Miss C. Frost, of Owen’s, was second, while Miss N. Patterson, of Cobden, and Miss J. Brown, of Mawhera Midgies, were equal third. Cobden were the winners of the competition for dressing, with Waiora second and Blaketown third.
