At the Opera House Finally To-night: “Silver City” (in cinecolour). Commencing to-mor-now: “The Knock-out” and "Son of Rusty.” “THE KNOCK-OUT” Drama, mystery, comedy and romance are finely blended in the third of the famous “Joe Palooka” series based on Ham Fisher’s renowned comic strip. This latest film entitled “The Knock-out,” which has Joe Kirkwood Jr., Leon Errol and Elyse Knox in leading roles, commences at the Opera House to-mor-row. In a “flashback” story Leon Errol, as manager Knobby Walsh, tells how his fighter Palooka, played by Joe Kirkwood threatens to quit the ring because he believes he's responsible for the death of another pugilist, who mysteriously succumbs after being knocked out by Joe. Informed that the dead fighter was really murdered. Palooka and his friends endeavour to unravel the mvstery. The champion’s life is endangered as he prepares to defend his title against a tough opponent, but’ the criminals eventually fall victims to their own treachery. “SON OF RUSTY” Ted Donaldson, Tom Powers, Ann Doran and “Rusty” are back again in another of the famous “Rusty” series, “Son of Rusty,” a heartwarming adventure drama of a faithfilled boy and his faithful dog, commences at the Opera House to-mor-row. The story deals with the dire effects of vicious gossip upon the life of a young veteran. Regent Shows Finally To-day: “It Happened On Fifth Avenue,” with Don De Fore, Charles Ruggles, Victor Moore. Commencing To-morrow: “Waterloo Bridge,” starring Robert Taylor, Vivien Leigh. Vivien Leigh and Robert Taylor formed the outstanding romantic team in 1940 in “Waterloo Bridge,” and so great and insistent has been the public demand for a come-back of this picture, that it has been arranged to open a new season at the Regent Theatre. The story has its opening scene in war-time London and then flickers back to events in the first World War. The romantic theme is woven around the twenty-four hour whirlwind courtship of the petite dancer and the dashing officer, who meet on historic Waterloo Bridge during an air raid. Excellent supporting performances are contributed by Lucile Watson, Virginia Field, Maria Ouspenskaya and C. Aubrey Smith.
