WATAROA NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent). Last week a party of ten young ladies on bicycles passed througn Wataroa on their way to the Glaciers. The Wataroa school children’s ianc> dress concert proved highly successlul, and the periormance ol the pupili reflected much credit on the teacher, Mr McGregor. The concert was followed by a dance for adults, at which the chairman of the school committee, r.'lr Lyles, thanked all who had assisted to make the functions so successful. Miss Betty Morresey, who has been relieving postmistress here, has left on return to Greymouth. Miss June Adamson has been appointed assistant mistress at the Wataroa school. The sale of property and implements owned by the late Mrs A. C. Butler, took place on Wednesday, there being a large attendance of buyers. The auctioneer was Air M. Houston. . The sawmill workers’ annual breakup dance should be a popular evening, and Berry’s Orchestra has been engaged for the music. Mr Steve Graham, second son of Mr and Airs Peter Graham of Franz Josef who has been in the Christchurch Hospital is making good progress.
