OBITUARY
Miss Winnie Arnott The death has occurred at Wellington of a well known and highly esteemed former resident of Greymouth, Miss Winnie Arnott. A daughter of Mr Arnott who was associated with the late Hon. James Kerr, the original proprietary of the “Grey River Argus” newspaper, the firm then being known as Kerr, Arnott and Coy., the late Miss Arnott lived almost her whole life here. During both of the World Wars, Miss . Arnott took an. energetic part in various patriotic organisations, and carried out very praiseworthy work in the district war effort. Sh e took up residence only last year in Wellington, where her death took place yesterday afternoon.
Mrs E. Seebeck
One of the oldest residents of Westland, Mrs Ernstirfa Seebeck, widow of the late Mr Louis Seebeck, of Kumara, died on Saturday at Hokitika, at the great age of 97 years. Born in Poland, the late Mrs Seebeck emigrated to Queensland in her early twenties, in company with an uncle and aunt. She married the late Mr Seebeck in Melbourne in 1873 and they came to New Zealand' in the following year, landing at Greymouth.
After spending about two years here, Mr and Seebeck went to Kumara, where they resided until Mr Seebeck’s death 18 years ago. Since then Mrs Seebeck had resided with her daughter, ’Mrs Robert Ford Hampden Street, Hokitika. Besides her daughter, she leave 5 two sons, Albert (Hokitika) an-’ Henry (Christchurch), also 10 grandchildren and 19 great grand-children The funeral takes place privately at Greymouth, to-day.
