End of War Assets Realisation Board
P.A. WELLINGTON, Dec. 16 The dissolution of the War Assets Realisation Board, as from the end of this month, was announced to-day by the Acting Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. W. Nash. He said that, with the successful disposal of the greater part of the goods under the boards control, the time had now arrived when the activities of the board could be transferred to a Government department. “The board has done an excellent job in disposing of such a vast quantity and diversity of goods m so relatively short a time,” Mr Nash said. “The speed and efficiency with which it carried out its duties compare very favourably with similar bodies set up in other countries. The major activities of the board had included the disposal of buldings, shipping, motor vehicles, and accessories, and general stores, such as textilesclothing, metals, machinery, and foodstuffs. Many commodities had to be stored for considerable periods, pending disposal. The Government extended its sincere thanks to all who had co-operated in the success of the board’s operations.
