NEW AREA FOR GREY ELECTRIC POWER DISTRICT
Puuakaiki Accepted A request from the Punakaiki Domain Board that it be brought in the Grev district for power, was received by the Grev Electric Power Board last night. The engineer (Mr Sinclair Trotter) said that it would mean that the Board would have to *>e n lM\e outer area. There would not be much trouble in getting the power out it he had the materials. The Board decided to notify the Punakaiki Domain Board that it was desirous of haying it included in the Grev power district, and that when materials were available the area would be reticulated. Kent, M.P.) io take the necessary action on the lack of fittings for street lights m th TlTe ol ßdrai Electrical Reticulation Council advised that the provisional subsidy granted on the proposed Incnbonnie extension would not be affected if the work was financed out of other than loan monies. The Westland Progress League was granted a donation of £5. ENGINEER’S REPORT The engineer reported that good progress had been made with the construction of the Black’s PointGarvev Creek line. Maintenance work on high tension circuits had been carried out on the Rewanui. Snowy River and Atarau lines. Heavier mains had been strung on portion of the Marsden Road low tension line. A short line had been constructed to serve two new consumers at Red Jacks, and new mains erected in Fitzgerald Street, Cobden, to connect new houses. Maintenance had been carried out at North Beach, Cobden, Ten Mile and Ahaura. Twenty-four new consumer applications had been received, and permits issued. Ten new consumers had been connected, and applications totalled 6299, with 6222 consumers. Permits had been issued for 61 alterations, extensions completed totalled 47, and eight ranges and six water heaters had been installed'for the month. The load at last meeting was 40,216.400 k.w., and for the month 159.180 k.w., a total of 40,375.580 k.w. For the quarter ended Septembe” 30, the power supply units purchased were 8,552,000, against 8,434,000 for the same quarter last year. The de mand was 6672 k.v.a., against 6338 k.v.a. for the same period last year. The cost of power for the quLVier was £12,469 15s. Lightning caused an interruption to the supplv on the Rotomanu feeder on September 30, otherwise the system had been free from trouble during the recent bad weather. it was hoped to make a start on the Inchbonnie work as soon as the required quantity of sieei wire for the high tension lines could be obI '- aine fi-
