WATAROA NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent)., Recent visitors to Wiataroa have included Mr. J. Shivas of Truman’s, Greymouth, Mr. Joe. Ffahlert, Greymouth, Mr. and Mrs. Hughes, Christchurch, Mr. White, Westport, and Mr. Biddulph, Inangahua Junction. Mr. J. Byrne, late of the Wataroa Hotel, is a visitor to the district. Mr. James Donovan, Okarito, and Mr. A. Clark, Wataroa, have returned after attending the ? Westland County Council meeting in Hokitika. The Dental Nurse has arrived to attend to the school children of South Westland. This very useful service is being extended, and children from the outlying districts are being brought to Wataroa for treatment. The Wataroa School Committee, at its recent meeting discussed several matters of importance. The swimming baths are being held up awaiting the Dairy Company’s boring plant, which is at present being used in connection with water supplies for the milking shed requirements. People from all parts of South Westland, including Harihari, attended to make the Catholic parish dance and sale of work a most successful function. The music was supplied by the Fox Glacier Orchestra, and many of the visitors rendered excellent items. Amongst the visitors were Mr. Murnhy of Dunedin, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Nolan, Upper Okuru, Mrs. Crooks, Mr. G. Graham, Miss Foley, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Condon, Mr. and Mrs. Laurie Williams. Mr. Allen Richards. Mr. Jack Holmes, Mr. and Miss O’Neil, and Mr. and Mrs. T. Meadows. M.r. Jack Nisson had charge of the floor and kept the dance going at a merry pace. Miss Paganini, Mr. and Mrs. L. Williams and Mr. and Mrs. Des. Cadigan were Wataroa visitors during the week-end.
