N.Z. FRIGATES LEAVE BRITAIN ON LONG JOURNEY

LONDON, October 14. The four frigates which New Zealand has purchased from Britain— Taupo, Pukaki, Hawea and Kanieri—will sail from Portland tomorrow as the 11th Frigate Flotilla. Commanded by Commander L. P. Bourke, D.S.C. and Bar, in the Taupo, the flotilla will sail via the Suez Canal calling at several ports, including Gibraltar, Malta, Aden, Colombo and Fremantle, and arriving at Auckland on January 5. Two other Loch class frigates, namely the Loch Katrine and the Loch Morlich, will be handed over to the New Zealand naval authorities early next year. ■
