Floods have obliterated about one thousand villages in the Benares, Chazipur, and Ballia districts of the eastern provinces of India, reports the Lucknow correspondent of the Calcutta “Statesman”. The floods have devastated one thousand square miles of the eastern provinces’ richest food producing areas.
