COMMUNISTS IN BURMA BEING OVERCOME
RANGOON, Sept. 2. The Premier of Burma, Thakin Nu told Parliament "The Communist influence in Burma is declining, but a strong effort is still essentiaLfor its liquidation.” He blamed the Communists for the rebellion, but said the original seed was sown at the end of the war when the country was so flooded with arms that each man possessed one or more, guns/’ The Burmese Communists had flourished, he said, mainly as a result of outside aid, but the Government, despite reverses, was now on top. The Communists were resorting to the old trick of causing disruption through strikes. No mercy would be shown to the participants in anti-Government strikes. Government troops have sealed off remaining outlets from Prome, thus completely trapping the rebels within the town. Official sources predicted the almost complete annihilation of the rebels in Prome.

TRIVANDRUM. Sept. 2. The Government of Travancore has. charged the Indian Comniunist Party With trying to establish a Communist Government in Travancore by "extensive, agrarian, industrial revolt and secretly encouraging murder, arson and looting.
