GREYMOUTH TOWN HALL BEING PULLED DOWN BY BULLDOZER
Excellent progress is being maue with the demolition of the Greymouth Town Hall. The rear of the building, and portion of the side, facing Tarapuhi Street, were practically down yesterday afternoon. The woodwork, windows’ and sashes ha.ve been removed. The 20-ton bulldozer has been making short work of the massive brick and concrete walls, tearing away pieces like paper. On Saturday, a Greymouth family offered to remove the whole of the concert hall flooring, to the delight of the contractor. They arrived early in the morning, and by nightfall had carted away about 1000 square feet of good timber, including joists in sections. The contractor stated yesterday that there was still , ample supplies of timber for firewood available for anyone who cared to cart it away * Public interest in the work of the bulldozer is evidenced by the crowds which gathered yesterday to see it in action. School children, now on holidays, are finding the demolition process an item of unending interest.
