KUMARA NOTES
(Our own Correspondent) One of the most popular teachers on the staff of the Kumara school, Miss P. McGrath, who leaves short!} to take an appointment at the East Christchurch school was bidden farewell at the school on Friday by a gathering of parents, members of the Kumara Basketball Club and the children of the school, in appreciation of her assistance as coach of the basketball club, Miss McGrath was presented with, a painted mirror and a bouquet. On behalf of the school children. Miss McGrath received floral bouquet from'Lynne Malcomson and Elaine Ryan and a spray from Pat Hammersley. Dianne Neville presented hei’ with an over-night bag. Mr T. Kelly, head teacher, expressed regret at Miss McGrath’s departure and wished her success and happiness in her new position. Her understanding of the pupils, conscientious work, and co-operation had been a big factor In the development of a fine school tone. Miss McGrath expressed her thanks for the kind remarks of the various speakers and her gratitude for the kindness and consideration shown her during her stay in Kumara.
