DE VALERA’S PLANE STRUCK BY LIGHTNING

(Rec. 10.30) LONDON. April 23 An hour after leaving, the Shannon airport in the West of Eire, late on Thursday night, a Pan-American “Constellation” plane in which Mr Eamonn De Valera (Leader of the Fianna Fail Party -in Dail Eirean) left for Melbourne to attend the Centenary ceelbrati/n of the Melbourne Archdiocese was struck by lightning.

Nobody was injured. The Constellation returned to the airport.

There the passengers taken on a relief plane.
