Queensland Carpenters Attack Communists

BRISBANE, ApHl 19.

By a majority of more than two to one, 1200 members of the Brisbane branch of the Carpenters’ Union passed a vote of no-confidence in the chairman, Mr J. Sharpe, the Queensland president of the union. “We are determined to oust all Communists from office,” declared a rank-and-file spokesman. Mr Sharpe was criticed at an earlier meeting for imposing a levy to aid the Queensland transport strikers. Members are demanding a secret compulsory ballot under court supervision. OPPOSITE VIEWS Meanwhile, in Melbourne, a majority of the 4000 members of the Amalgamated Engineering Union endorsed the actions of Mr E. J.
