Battle Outside Jerusalem
JERUSALEM, Anril 18.
The Arabs’ National Committee said that the Arab Judean Army had entered the Jewish settlement of Nevi Yacouv, five miles from Jerusalem, astride the main road to Nablus, and blew up several houses. Jewish sources denied the Arab claim and said: "A terrific battle is still in progress”. British Highland Infantry sources said the Arabs won a victory and captured 20 Jewish armoured cars. Arabs killed five Jews outside Haifa in a sharp engagement with Jewish forces.
Jewish Cruelty at Camp JERUSALEM, April 18. Police in a British armoured car on entering the Waldheim internment camp saw three British military camp guards trussed under a tree with Jews preparing ropes to hang them. The police forced the Jews to hand over the soldiers, and returned to Haifa. , n x Later British troops rescued 80 prisoners of war from the camp, which had been taken over by 60 Jews. The Jews had locked the Germans in two small rooms. The Jews killed two German girls.
