MOAS GOING TO MANHATTAN

NEW YORK, April 19.

The New York Herald Tribune considers the impending arrival of skeletons of seven species of moas from New Zealand worthy of a light leading article, ft says: “In a season of robins and bluebirds we are not sure how completely Manhattan bird-lovers will take to the mighty, but extinct, moa —a bird which was certainly big enough to be investigated without binoculars. The moa in getting to Manhattan' will oe welcomed, we think, as another' victory of science in preserving the remains of either feathered or featherless bipeds. For the instruction of . appreciative visitors, the American Museum of Natural History will eventually restore one or two of its moa*. This we guess, will be done- so skilS y the exhibit will doubtless scare the. gizzard out of any sparrow looking into the museum’s windows The chairman of the museum’s bird department Mr R. C. Murphy, returned this week after digging up many moa remnants in a New Zealand - swamp.
