ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL BLACKBALL DEFEATS GREYMOUTH 3-NIL

The results of the senior Soccer matches played on Saturday were: Blackball 3 v. Greymouth ’O. Runanga 6 v. Cobden 2.

Taylorville a bye. In the first match Greymouth was consistently unlucky with the ball. Fumbling and poor co-operation cost a goal on at least four occasions during the match, and Blackball capitalising on Greymouth’s mistakes held off points. Scorers for Blackball were Hunter (2) and Phillips. Cobden’s defeat by Runanga was not unexpected and had Cobden taken more advantage of any mistakes by the country team the score may have been more even. However, Runanga had a well deserved win and in the second half looked a really fine combination. In‘a schoolboy match Runanga defeated Cobden.
