Mr and Mrs J. Bennett have returned from a visit to the North Island.
Mr L. N. Rixon, of Gore, has arrived on transfer to the position of guard in the Greymouth Railways Department.
Mr L. S. James left last evening on return to Timaru. He has been relieving in the traffic branch of the Railway Department, Greymouth. .
Mrs Alice Archer, widow of Mr Charles Alfred Archer, passed away on Thursday at the residence of her daughter, Mrs Marsden, Mawheraiti. She was aged 83. The funeral will leave St Stephen’s Church, Reefton, to-morrow afternoon for the Suburban cemetery.
Mrs Amy Anderson, widow of Mr Arthur Anderson, passed away suddenly at her residence, Taylor’s Road, Fendalton, on Thursday evening. Mrs Anderson was born at Kirwee, Canterbury, and had resided there all her life until t«vo years ago, when she took up residence in Christchurch. She is survived bv four sons anci two daughters. Mr Will Appleton, Mayor of Wellington was elected president by the Municipal Association at its conference at Dunedin. Other officers elected were: Vice-presidents, Messrs T. W. Herock (Napier), A. E. S. Hanan (Timaru), and W. J. Rogers, M.L.C. (Wanganui), elected, and Messrs D. C. Cameron (Dunedin), J. A. C. Allum (Auckland), and E. H. Andrews (Christchurch); executive, Messrs R. M. McCullock (Mount Wellington), R. A. Liddell (Otatau), H. A. Anderson (Mount Albert), E. W. Wise (Eastbourne), L. R. Wilkinson (Tauranga), B. S. Barry (Whakatane), C. W. Tyler, (Rangiora).
