Australian Rocket Range Precautions

CANBERRA, April 15

The Prime Minister, Mr Chifley has introduced a Bill which he claims “will ensure the safety of the public” in the rocket range operations in Central Australia. He said that the Bill would provide for compensation for accidents, the maintenance of secrecy among eniployees, the prevention of trespass in the secret areas and search for unauthorised persons.

The Bill re-establishes the pre-war Departmentof Supply and Development under the former Minister of Munitions, Senator Armstrong. During the war the department expanded into the separate Ministries of Munitions .Aircraft Production, and Supply and Shipping.
