Dutch Golfer’s Win in England
(Rec. 6.40) LONDON, June 26. The consistent Dutchman, Flory Van Donck with three seventies and sixty-nine for a total of 279, won the Manchester Evening Chronicle’s professional golf tournament at Mere. Knipe in the third round and Von Nida (Australia) in the final round equalled the course record with sixty-sevens. Von Nida pulled up to fourth place, but Knipe faded out of the picture. Leaders were (third and fourth rounds and total): Van Donck 70/69—279; Bulla 70/72—282; Adams 73/71—283; Von Nida 74/67— 285.
Von Donck’s win was his first success in British golf, and it came on his birthday. Other scores were: C. Ward 73/70 —287; Haliburton 73/75—288; Perry 72/69—289; Sutton 75/71—289; Green 76/71—289; Daly 73/72—289.
