LONDON, June 27. At Wimbledon, the New Zealander, Robson, entered the final 16 in the men’s singles to-day. He had a gruelling struggle against the Britisher, Jones, winning at 10-8 in the fi'.’th set. The Australians, Bromwich, Pails and Geoff Brown, expeditiously—almost casually—disposed of their opponents who lacked an answer to the Australians’ courtcraft. The finest match of the day was Pail’s battle against the Indian, Nisra, who though decisively beaten won applause from the packed centre court for his gallant and spasmodically brilliant struggle. The fourth Australian, Colin Long, had little difficulty in the Rumanian, Rurac. Kramer smashed the Italian, Cucelli, off the court, while Falkenburg, who had an unexpected battle against the Britisher, Lister, turned the scales with a devastating service. Results— Men’s Singles.
