NAPIER SURF FATALITY
P.A. NAPIER, May 23. One man was drowned and another man was heavily buffeted when a dinghy capsized in the surf off the Westshore Beach this morning. The victim was Mr Robson, aged 48, married, with three children. With Mr J. F. Martin, the deceased was assisting in efforts to tow a stranded buoy from the beach, but the dinghy capsized in the surf. Both men, who were employees of the Napier Harbour Board, were thrown into the water. Martin reached the shore exhausted, but Robson has been missing since he released his hold on the boat.
