WILL KOREA SECURE FREEDOM?

SEOUL (Korea), May 21. The joint United' States and Soviet Commission was reconvened to-day with expressions of goodwill from both sides. The chief Russian commissioner, Colonel-General Shtikov, said that Russia sought the exact fulfilment of the Moscow decision for a unified Korean government under Allied tutelage. He added that he was certain that on that basis Korea would develop on modern lines and become an independent state. The chief Uniter States commissioner, Major-General Albert Brown, said’ the eyes of the world were focussed on the commission and that the Korean people anxiously awaited the outcome. He ad’ded that difficulties would arise, but all had to find mutually satisfactory solutions. The first task of preparing a plan for a Korea united under a provisior al government should be expeditiously completed’.
