N.S.W. Inter-Union Dispute Causes 16 Mines to Stop

(Rec. 8.50). SYDNEY, April 16. There is an inter-union dispute as to whether a man who was appointed a fitter should transfer from the Miners’ Federation to the Amalgamated Engineering Union. It caused sixteen mines on the northern field to become idle to-day for seventeen thousand tons of coal. A twenty-four hours, with the, loss of mass meeting of the engineers decided to-day not to extend the dispute farther at present. There will be another twenty-four hour stoppage on May 7, to Consider a report of negotiations between the two unions.
