LONDON, March 22. The secretary of the Civil Service Clerical Association (Mr L. C. White) told the National Council of Civil Liberties that Ml 5 (Military Intelligence) had warned Government departments that certain persons whom the Civil Service Commission had passed as qualified must not be allowed to become permanent civil servants, and everyone named had been a member of the Communist Party. Mr White said: “This is a _ very serious infringement of civil liberty and political freedom”.
