LINER AFIRE IN ENGLISH DOCK
(Rec. 11.30 p.m.) LONDON, March 24, Two hundred firemen are fighting a rive on the liner Monarch of Berrfiuda, which is in the dry dock at Hebburn-on-Tyne. Flames, which a strong north-westerly wind is fanning, are sweeping the ship’s superstructure. Fumes overcame a number of the firemen. The liner was a troopship during the war. She entered the dock six weeks ago for refitting.
