10 YEAR TERM FOR ROBBERY UNDER ARMS

SYDNEY, March 21. Cecil John Rolls, a labourer, aged twenty-four, pleaded guilty to armed robbery of jewels worth £9,175. from a shop in Hunter Street, Sydney. He was sentenced to ten years imprisonment. He entered the shop armed with a pistol, and ran off with the jewellery, which had been displayed to him. In passing sentence Mr. Justice ' Kirby said that crimes of violence, in effect, fixed their own minimum sentence, because of the danger in which the lives of the victims were placed.
