The Liberal Party as well as the) Gebrerista and Communist parties now openly support the rebels. President Moringo is supported only by the Colorado party, which he established •as the sole legal party in January. President Maringo has vacated the post of commander-in-chief and has appointed Colonel Frederico Smith to succeed him. Col. Smith is an experienced cavalryman, who has campaigned brilliantly in the “Green Hell” Chaco war against Bolivia in 1932-35.
