Mail Removed from Boxes

During Saturday night the locks were smashed off no fewer than six post office street mail receiving boxes in Westport. It is presumed that the contents of the boxes were rilled and exactly how much mail was in them is not known. The affair is being investigated by the police. During Saturday afternoon, another type of hooliganism which has been making a revival in Westport of late was reported. The bandmaster of the Westport Municipal Band was assaulted while on his way to Victoria Square, when he resisted a pair of youths, under the influence of liquor, who were interfering with the band.
