£5000 to Back Vic Patrick for World Title Bout

—- -O r-“ SYDNEY, March 18. After disposing of Eddie Marcus in 1 min. 20 secs, with a straight left to the jaw, the Australian lightweight boxing champion, Vic Patrick, said he wanted to contest the world championship. He asked for a concrete promise that Stadiums, Ltd., would match him in a bout for the title. If they were not able to arrange that, he was prepared to go with his wife to America. Patrick said he believed his form was as good as ever, but that fights were few and far between. A group of sportsmen said after the fight that they were prepared to back Patrick for £5OOO in a world title match. He had now had 50 fights, of which he had won 47. He lost on points to Bos Murphy, and on a technical knock-out to Les Sloan. The trainer of Marcus, W. McConnell, said: “Patrick is a great fighter. It is now up to Australia to get him a world title bout.” LOUIS WANTS BOUT NEW YORK, March 17.
