FORTY WAACS TO GO FROM N.Z. FOR SERVICE IN JAPAN

P.A. WELLINGTON, March 11. While the Government was sympathetic, difficulties in the way of obtaining transport at present made it impossible to grant home leave to men re-enlisting for a further period of service in Japan, said the Minister of Defence, Mr F. Jones, to-day. He announced that the Government had decided to send forty members of the W.A.A.C. to carry out duties in the J Force clubs, and. leave centres, in Japan. Army Headquarters was at present taking action to select personnel from serving members. These girls would be in addition to Sisters and V.A.D.’s in the general hospital.
