By a six-to-cne majority German miners voted against the British suggestion that they should work extra shifts to provide German homes with coal this winter. The ballot was organised by their trade unions. Eight thousand tons of flour from the United States arrived at Emden, the dockers working all night to ’get the first consignment into the Ruhr by Wednesday. Two shipments of grain from the Soviet zone ha- arrived at. Hamburg and Kiel, comprising 1200 and 500 tons respectively. LONDON, Nov. 18.
Two youths, who were arrested on the night of November 17 in a yard at the. rear of Field Marshal Lord Montgomery’s residence at Westminster appeared before a Magistrate to-day, and pleaded not guilty to being on the premises for an unlawful purpose. The youths said they entered the yard by an open archway. They were just walking round London and wanted to take a short-cut. The Magistrate ordered a remand to enable the police to call additional evidence. The police stated that they were satisfied there was no political significance in their aC Tio ns.
