MOVE TO BAR DEMOCRAT.

Steering Committee for the Senate is seeking to bar Senator Theodore Bilbo from taking his seat in the Senate, to which he was elected for Mississippi in the recent elections on November 5. He is a Democrat. Most New York newspapers welcome the attempt to" unseat Senator Bilbo, who is being made a target of three investigations. The Senate Campaign Expenditures’ Committee begins hearing on December 2, under the chairmanship of Senator Ellender (Democrat, Louisiana) on charges that Senator Bilbo intimidated Negroes into staying away from polls at a Democratic primary election. The Senate War Investigating Committee appointed a Sub-Committee to investigate charges that Senator Bilbo accepted gratuities from war contractors.
