MONEY STOLEN FROM POST OFFICE
Following the sound of three sharp explosions, which were heard on Sunday evening between nine and' ten o’clock, it was discovered that the office safe of the Waiuta Post Office had been broken into, and a large sum of money was missing. Advice received from Waiuta last evening indicated ' that entry was gained' to the post office by a window situated at the back of the building.
The post office is a self-contained building situated some distance from the residential area, and neither Mrs Leathwick, nor the other two mem' bers of the office staff lived' on the premises. No further details were forthcoming last evening when it was stated that in spite of extensive inquiries made, into the matter, the police had not reached any solution. 'Detective Sergeant C. H. Davis and Detective B. H. Constable, of Greymouth, left at a late hour on Sunday evening to investigate and the Chief Postmaster, -Greymouth, also left for Waiuta yesterday morning, returning last night
