BLAKETOWN SCHOOL

Parents’ Representations

A large gathering of parents attended the monthly meeting of the Blaketown Home and School Association. Mr R. Heslop presiding, and approximately fifty members being present. After inward and outward correspondence had been dealt with, the secretary read a report which showed the Association to be in a healthy state financially. Various new improvements around the school were authorised. During the evening a lively discussion ensued over the staff situation at the school. While appreciating difficulties in regard, to staff which confront the Education Board to-day, the parents stated they considered ’hat everything had not been done in respect to the Blaketown School. .It was resolved that a letter of strong protest be forwarded to the Board, and that a deputation consisting of the chairman,, secretary, and the secretary of the School Commitee meet Hon. J. O’Brien and put forward the school’s case. The usual business having been completed, final arrangements were made for the school’s annual show, which is to be held on .December 14. After an enjoyable supper. served by the ladies, members were entertained with two very interesting films.
