Mes'dames H. Mullaly and E. Lapslie of Christchurch, arrived yesterday on a holiday visit to Greymouth.

The death occurred at Hokitika on Friday, of Mr. George Edward McLeod, at the age of 75. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. J. Nuttall (Blackball), one’brother, Mr. J. McLeod (Southland). The late Mrs. Agnes Lynch of Greymouth, was also a sister. The funeral took place at Hokitika yesterday.

The London Daily Herald says Mr. Churchill is reported to have decided to write an inner history of the war, and has begun preparations for the task, which is expected to take him two years. Since returning from Switzerland, where his holiday greatly improved his health he has been mapping out the scope of the book, which may take two or three volumes. The title deeds of Churchill Court, a mansion near Sevenoaks, Kent, which was given to Mr. and Mrs. Churchill by Mr. Charles Hopkins as a token of gratitude to his war leadership, have been presented by the former Prime Minister to MajorGeneral Sir Frederick Maurice, national president of the British Legion. The mansion will be used as a rehabilitation centre and convalescent home for men and women of the British Legion.
