SOVIET DEMAND ON TURKEY ISTANBUL, August 11. The Turkish press carries l a report that Russia has demanded revision of the Montreux Convention, and wants an early meeting of the signatories. The Soviet paper “Pravda”, of Moscow, said that documents from the German Foreign Cilice stated the Turkish President, Mr Inonu, in May, 1941, told von Papen that, should Germany agree not to conclude any agreement against Turkey with any other country, Turkey would be prepared not to enter the conflict against Germany. The document Mated von Papen had a conversation with Sarajoglu on August 27, 1942, in which the latter, discussing the Russian problem, allegedly said: “As a Turk, I passionately want Russia destroyed. Germany can resolve" the problem by killing at least half the Russians residing in Russia”.
