Lawry’s Creek Bridge Destroyed

Two oi' three spans of Lawrys Creek Bridge were destroyed’ during the night. This will prevent trains running between Greymouth and Raefton this morning. Otira Road Blocked. A large slip last evening had blocked the road at Rocky Point betweenOtira and Jacksons. Road maintenance gangs from this section are understood to be at Kumara, where repair work is being carried out on the Zig Zag road. They probably will have transferred to Rocky Point in the meantime. Lewis Pass route was last night reported as free of snow and open fo>' traffic. A small slip is reported near Landing Cutting, in the vicinity of Inangahua Junction. Milk Supply. Advice from the Riversdale Dairy’s Ltd., last evening, was that because of the slip at Nellie’s Creek it was anticipated that there would be a slight milk shortage in Greymouth today, because milk could not meantime be collected east of Rotomanu.
