After a disappointing professional lightweight boxing contest at the Towij Hall to-night, Bobby Fuller (Australia), Ost. 941 b., defeated ’Jim Griffen (Wellington) 9st. 1041 b.; New Zealand champion, on points. Fuller made most, of the fight, land deserved the decision. Griffen at no stage looked , the Dominion title-holder. At the commencement of the eighth ’round the referee told both contestants to fight, while during the contest several in the capacity house urged the official in charge to “send them home.” PATRICK TO RETIRE BEFORE LONG (Rec. 8.40). Following the withdrawal of Patrick from the welter title Stadiums Limited has named Tommy Burns, A. L. Moran, Clarrie Gordon and Les Sloan as logical contenders. Patrick revealed last night that his contract with Ern McQuillan has expired. He was non-committal when hsked if he intended to renew it. Lightweight Joe Hall will substitute for Patrick in the fight with Clarrie Gordon on July 13 at the stadium. A condition of the fight is that Gordon .will not weigh more than 10.2.
